*The Most Commented Upon piece entered in the juried Associated Artists of the Inland Empire art show held in the Rancho Cucamonga VICTORIA GARDENS CULTURAL CENTER.

This painting was done entirely with a palette knife in a yellow scheme. The scrape of a palette knife sounds like an ice skater at play, and became most fun in this experiment.

Every painting is an experiment. This fun one's game was to make a monochrome painting of all one color with it's various tints and shades... actually be interesting. Gold was close enough to add some real shimmer.

The palette knife and thick acrylic paint made this high impasto effect. Impasto painting is applying thick paint to the canvas; but "Thick Paint" is much easier to remember.

The viewer is drawn in to the center, with some thinking it's inside a flower, others... the sun. Palette knife painting over the 3-D edge can be a challenge, but really draws the uniqueness of this thick paint out. When you reach the edge of the painting, why stop there?!
