Jewelry Photos

My latest photography of my sister's jewelry entry to the contest at Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts, in her hopes to win an all-expense paid trip to study under famous jewelers in San Francisco, at left here.

Her stones and jewelry design website is here:

Esther also loves to use photography to create fun background settings for her jewelry displays.

She has a wire wrapping style here that gives a great interconnected feel. She describes it as "like flowing water around rare gems, suspending them delicately."

And it is true, her jewelry is very delicate and growing since I've known her, to now be more sculptural forms of art.

This jewelry photographing project was a challenge for needing the sun to draw out the shimmer and brilliance of the stones and metals without casting long shadows, yet providing enough studio light to have a controlled environment.

Getting the lens to focus on enough of the piece and not spot focusing was also a challenge, especially when there are multiple points of interest in the photo, such as her first one up top, of the 4 stone wire wrapped ovals.

Ruth, you outdid yourself! These look so professional! I can't wait to use them for so many things! Yes, you can use them on your site-thanks for the extra exposure. Have a nice New Years! Talk to you more later. Thanks again!

This wire wrapped bracelet was one of my favorite shots because of the light shimmer of colors, and that stands out on the black velvet, as well as the wire wrapped jewelry design.

She chose the white background one above because it was most clear; and she took that great photo too, with her Kodak C875 zoom digital camera.
