Ruth Collis paintings entered in juried show, details at bottom, turned out to be a great event and exposure, but as far as judging, many organization members one, several "very dear friends" of theirs, and several of the same person winning 2nd place as well as First. ?? Does this make sense?
At any rate, Ruth Collis' "Buttery Sunshine" below, was The most Commented Upon piece:
"Can I touch it?"
"Is it really made from real butter?"
Best of Show was some skinny dog sculpture. Realism and traditionalism always gets noticed... the same old boring, uninteresting stuff always seems to get noticed and not out of the ordinary or abstract art.
The show was IMMACULATELY organized, nice potted flowers and plants making displays wonderful, and flowered vases at the buy table, and a catered event on Friday. Outside, a band with relaxing music started to play, where lemon water was available on lavishly decorated tables of black under textured gold tapestry tablecloths, and cupcake tiers atop.
More below the video...
The same elegant tables were for standing height surrounding the band, and many bottles of wine offered. Hors d'oeuvre servers came out with marble platter trays repeatedly with olives, cheese, and some refined thing on crackers, and sweet and sour, refined flavor meatballs.
A very unique sculpture is shown in the video. All flat paintings were hanging in the center on stands, and fiber ware, gourds, and jewelry on tables outlining the room. Outside was a pottery wheel and table wares. Only 3 paintings sold, which can drive one's conclusion to this being just a very entertaining event in a nice place.
Artists picking up work Sunday, had to present their receipt to take their work. This event was classy and well organized.
